Academy Details

Next Level Goalkeeping Academy operates on a Sunday morning from 10am till 12noon and the sessions are open to all boys and girls from the ages of 8 years to 17 years. The Goalkeeper Academy is for any goalkeeper - It doesn’t matter who you play for (School or Club). Lead coaches are UKCC Level 1 or Level 2 qualified. We have all the required Goalkeeper equipment to enhance the training sessions (Ball Machines, Deflector Matts, Rebound Boards, Crazy Catches, Mini Goals) as well as some massively enthusiastic coaches. Bookings can only be made online via the payment portal.

A Typical Day

A typical session comprises of a warmup including stretching and preparation, and then a short Dynamics session to get everyone moving and heart rates up. Sessions can then be split into the different aspects of being a goalkeeper...including:

  • Footwork and movement including kicking / clearances
  • Positioning
  • Save’s / Clearance / Deflect (Saves with all parts of the body from kickers to leg guards to stick and hand pads to body armour)
  • Diving / Smother / Sliding
  • 2nd and 3rd phase play – how to reset after a save
  • Agility and presence in the goals
  • Speed around the goals, around the D and for saves / reaction’s
  • Decision making
  • Communication
  • Confidence and ability to reset
